Short Messaging Service is very great! It is fast, cheap, and convenient. It lets you connect with your friends and
family no matter where in the world you are. A few years ago, Google
launched its SMS chat service via Gmail, but was limited to very few countries, like USA, UK etc.
Well
here's a good news! Google has, very recently, introduced updates to the
service. Gmail SMS messaging is now available across a lot more countries and networks, including Asian countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, India etc. You can now send texts to a lot of networks in many countries, absolutely free!
How to use Gmail's SMS service:
- Sign in your Gmail account.
- Add/Edit a Contact and enter the mobile number to contact details section.
- After adding contact number details, hover on any contact person whom you want to text, and choose More --> Send SMS.
- After clicking Send SMS, MSG chat box will pop up, type your text in chat box and press Enter to send your text to particular recipient.
- When you will hit Enter after typing text, then your credit will decrease by 1 for every text you sent. You will receive 5 pt. credit when someone replies your text. You can know more about Gmail's-SMS credits here.
- What if you lose all the credits? Well, you will receive one credit after 24 hours. A smart way to increase your credits would be to send a text to your own mobile phone, and then replying to it any number of times to refill your credits!
- After a moment, your text will be received by recipient and you will get the notification in your chat box as shown below.

Have fun.
