Windows 7 and previous versions of Windows like Windows Vista, Windows XP etc. had an accessories folder in the start menu which provides quick access to tools like calculator, command prompt, notepad, paint, snipping tool etc. Now in latest version of Windows, i.e. Windows 8, the interface has been changed and this accessories menu is not available.
In case you want to access this menu, you can still get this feature in Windows 8 by some registry trick. The registry entry adds this complete menu to desktop context menu for quick access.
How to add accessories menu to context menu:
- Download the registry hack to add accessories menu to context menu. This registry hack is developed by Deviantart user, you can
download it from DeviantArtor click here to direct download. This download file consist of some registry tweaks in a rar folder. - Extract the downloaded Zip folder.
- Copy the hide.exe file to C:\windows folder.
- Now double click on Add Accessories in context menu registry file to apply changes to context menu.
- You will be asked to confirm the registry changes, just allow changes.
- Now right click on the desktop and you can see an Accessories menu where you can access many of the tools including shutdown and restart.
- If you want to remove this option from the context menu, just run the Remove Accessories From context menu registry file included in the zip and you can easily remove it.
